Bond 25 Is A Year Out, Time For A Series Rewatch

The 25th entry in the James Bond series is due out one year from today (assuming it doesn’t get pushed back again, fingers crossed). I absolutely love this series, so that can only mean one thing: full series re-watch. The Bond series has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember; I grew up on these movies (not to mention Goldeneye for the N64, classic game).

Watching the movies in order would be boring, so I’ll shake things up a bit and watch them in a pre-determined random order. The one exception is that I will watch Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace back-to-back. I’ve heard Quantum is a better watch if you can view it and Casino Royale as one cohesive story. So I’m going to do it that way and see how that goes. Other than that, I’m sticking to the order of the randomized list.

I’ll do some sort of write-up/review for each movie. It won’t be a traditional review, but more of a general reflection, similar to what I did with the Harry Potter series. I’ll also try to find some fun bits and pieces to include in each, which will likely at least include various rankings.

I have 52 weeks to get through 24 movies, which means the plan will be to put out a post every other week or so. I can all but guarantee right now that I won’t perfectly stick to that, but that’s the general idea.

For those interested, the order in which I’ll watch them is listed at the bottom of this post. But each new post will also include which movie is up next, so you can keep track that way as well.

I realize the Bond movies aren’t for everyone, but I would encourage anyone who hasn’t seen them all to give them a chance. Yes, the quality spectrum is wide, but I urge you to just enjoy them for what they are. From the camp of Roger Moore all the way up to the traditional action/spy thrillers of the Daniel Craig era, they run the gamut in style and tone.

I recognize and agree that it’s not the best series (the range of quality is wild), but it goes toe-to-toe with any series on how fun it is to watch. And if you doubt that, watch along with me and see for yourself.
